Anyone who has ever read ANYTHING on how to start an online
business, has probably read that "You Need To Build A List" or
"The Money Is In The List!"

The fact is that you can start an online business "on a
shoestring budget" and do that WITHOUT a website, an email list,
or even a product of your own.

You could try selling just by posting on social media BUT most
people hanging out on social media aren't there to be sold to!

Even if you do manage to build a following on social media, and
get people to start buying your products, you STILL need to get
them onto a list if possible BECAUSE when you build your business
on social media, you are totally at the mercy of whoever owns
whatever platform you use.

ANY of them could change their policies at any time, or BAN you
for whatever reason... without having to explain to you, or...
they could freeze your account either temporarily or permanently.

If you spend months or even years building a business on a
backbone over which you have NO control, you are treading in
dangerous waters :-)

If they shut you down tomorrow, your business will simply be
GONE... unless... you have a database.

With a database (a list) you could still easily keep in touch
with your audience... without really missing a beat!

So while you don't 100% NEED a list... you DO :-)

For a product to sell, there are literally hundreds of thousands
of products that others sell where they would happily pay your a
commission to refer business to them.

We generally call that being "an Affiliate Marketer."   I've been
an affiliate marketer for 24 year, but also have sold my own
products and/or services for 20 years.

At times, it's a LOT easier selling other's products!

So you DO need to build an email list, and to do that you need a
"list host"... generally a third-party company that allows you to
build a database on their system and send (broadcast) messages
out to that list.

The type of list-host that you need is often referred to as an
"autoresponder." That's because when someone interacts with it,
it can AUTOmatically RESPOND with a precomposed message, or
series of messages!

I mentioned several weeks ago that Aweber now offers a FREE
autoresponder account.

The free account lets you have up to 500 email addresses, and
send out up to 3000 emails per month.

I HIGHLY recommend this as a way for beginning email marketers to
just get started.

I hope that you'll be able to rapidly GROW your email list beyond
500 subscribers, but by then you should also be earning more than
enough money... perhaps from selling affiliate products, to
afford a larger Aweber account... and have extra to LIVE on :-)
